First Lady assures Nigerians of commitment to support less-privileged in society

…as RHI distributes food items to beneficiaries in Ekiti
The First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has reaffirmed the commitment of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration to enhance the lives of ordinary Nigerians.
Speaking through the Vice President’s wife, Hajia Nana Shettima, during a food distribution event at the Government House in Ado Ekiti, she emphasized that the government’s reforms and initiatives are designed for long-term impact rather than short-lived solutions.
The event was part of the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), which operates under the government’s Social Investment Programme. This monthly Food Outreach Programme specifically targets vulnerable groups within society, aiming to complement governmental efforts to alleviate poverty.
Senator Tinubu urged beneficiaries to use the food items responsibly and not to sell them in the market. She highlighted that the RHI aligns with the administration’s objectives to address the needs of the people effectively.
Dr. Olayemi Oyebanji, the wife of Ekiti State Governor, expressed gratitude for Senator Tinubu’s support, particularly in agriculture, where local farmers have received essential tools, and in women’s empowerment through scholarships. She encouraged attendees to consider home gardening as a means to ensure food security for their families and neighbors.
The RHI Food Outreach Programme, launched in December 2023 in the Federal Capital Territory, has since expanded to several states, making a significant impact on the lives of individuals, including people with disabilities, women, and youth. This initiative, supported by benevolent industrialists, provides a variety of food items to those in need.
