Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has reaffirmed that maternal and child health remains central to the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.

Speaking on Friday at the commissioning of the 100-bed Oluremi Tinubu Maternal and Child Specialist Hospital in Gombe State, the First Lady said the facility would help reduce maternal and infant mortality while giving children a healthier start in life.

“The commissioning of this hospital is not just the unveiling of a building; it is the opening of doors to life, to hope, and to a healthier future for our mothers and our children,” she said. “Healthcare, especially maternal and child health, is at the heart of the Renewed Hope Agenda, which seeks to ensure that every Nigerian child has a healthy start in life, and that no mother dies while birthing life.”

Tinubu commended the Office of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for building the hospital, noting that its efforts are vital to achieving the country’s health targets. She urged medical professionals, community leaders, and stakeholders to ensure the hospital delivers quality care with excellence and compassion.

The First Lady also commissioned the newly established College of Nursing and Midwifery in Gombe, where she interacted with students who expressed gratitude for her visit.
