The First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has inaugurated the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Digital Museum of Dynamic History and Television Studio at the NYSC Directorate Headquarters, marking a significant milestone in the history of the scheme.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Senator Tinubu described the facilities as visionary steps towards preserving the NYSC’s extraordinary legacy, which spans over 50 years of fostering national unity, patriotism, and service among Nigerian youth.
“This event highlights the significant contributions of the NYSC since its establishment in 1973, particularly its pivotal role in fostering patriotism, promoting national unity, and service among Nigerian youth,” the First Lady stated.

She lauded the Nigerian youth, commending their resilience, innovation, and boundless energy.
“The Nigerian youth embody an indomitable spirit that the world admires. This selfless and enduring commitment to the nation is perfectly captured in the NYSC anthem: ‘Under the sun or in the rain, with dedication and selflessness.’ Whether facing challenges or opportunities, Nigerian youth rise with unshakable determination, proving that their strength lies in unity and the promise of a brighter tomorrow for our nation,” she said.

The newly commissioned Digital Museum is designed to showcase the creativity and innovation of Nigerian youth while also chronicling the historical landmarks of the NYSC scheme.
Senator Tinubu emphasized that the facility would serve as a tool for civic education and the inculcation of national values, as well as a reminder of the immense potential of Nigerian youth.

“This digital museum represents the various interventions of NYSC members, who through their selfless service, have left indelible marks across diverse sectors, including science and technology, agricultural development, healthcare delivery, human rights, and community service,” she noted.
In his remarks, the Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, applauded the First Lady’s contributions to youth development, particularly through her Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI).

He described the facilities as a testament to the NYSC’s alignment with global trends and urged the youth to carry on the legacy of the scheme by leveraging the resources for research and national development.
“The edifice showcases that the scheme has moved forward, aligning with global trends. It will serve as a virtuous success for the history, innovation, and contributions of our youth over the years,” Olawande stated.
The NYSC Director General, Brig. Gen. YD Ahmed, highlighted that the museum and TV studio are more than repositories of artifacts; they represent a dynamic chronicle of Nigeria’s shared history, values, and aspirations.
“The museum is intended to showcase the rich legacy of the NYSC and our nation, Nigeria,” he said.
A major highlight of the event was a live interview with Senator Oluremi Tinubu conducted in the newly commissioned TV studio, showcasing its cutting-edge capabilities.
