First Lady departs Abuja for Katsina ahead of Buhari’s burial

First Lady Oluremi Tinubu has departed Abuja for Katsina State ahead of the burial of former President Muhammadu Buhari in his hometown, Daura.
This follows video clips of the former president, which was airlifted from London, United Kingdom, to Katsina on Tuesday morning aboard a Nigerian presidential aircraft.
According to Channels Television, the presidential jet left London earlier in the day after a brief delay. Buhari’s arrival was initially scheduled for Monday but was postponed.
A presidential funeral committee has also arrived in Katsina to oversee final arrangements for the state burial.

Former President Muhammadu Buhari died on Sunday at a clinic in London after a prolonged illness. He was 80 years old.
Buhari served as Nigeria’s military Head of State from 1983 to 1985 and later as a democratically elected president from 2015 to 2023.
His legacy includes a focus on anti-corruption, infrastructure development, and national security, though his tenure was also marked by economic challenges and insecurity.
He will be laid to rest later today in accordance with Islamic rites in his hometown, Daura, Katsina State.
