First Lady describes Nigeria as best ally for BRICS countries

First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has described Nigeria as the best ally for BRICS nations, citing the country’s vast potential for global partnerships.

She made the remark on Tuesday at the State House in Abuja while receiving a delegation from the Russian chapter of the BRICS Women’s Business Alliance, led by Chairperson Anna Nesterova.

“Nigeria is a very interesting place that you will find rewarding for partnerships,” Mrs. Tinubu said, pledging her office’s support for initiatives that empower women and entrepreneurs. She clarified that while her office plays an advisory and facilitative role, government ministries carry the statutory responsibilities and budgets to drive business engagements.

The First Lady also highlighted her humanitarian commitments through the Renewed Hope Initiative, focusing on programmes for women, children, and families. Reflecting on her recent 65th birthday, she noted that she dedicated the milestone to raising funds for a national library project, while also championing causes such as providing sanitary kits for young women in rural areas.

“In a few days, I will be on my way to Gombe to hand out sanitary towels to young women from rural communities. I have to pay for that out of pocket or with whoever supports my charity,” she added.

In her remarks, Nesterova praised Mrs. Tinubu as “an incredible woman who not only changes lives for the better but also paves the way for a prosperous future for the Nigerian people.”
