First Lady felicitates Onyinyechi Mark on historic Paralympic gold medal win

The First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, has extended her heartfelt congratulations to Onyinyechi Mark for her historic gold medal victory at the 2024 Paris Paralympics, where she also set multiple world records.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the First Lady praised Mark’s remarkable achievement, highlighting it as a source of inspiration for millions.
“Your incredible accomplishment is a testament to what can be achieved through dedication, commitment, resilience, and perseverance,” Tinubu stated. “You have not only made history but have also paved the way for others to dream big and aim high.”
The First Lady emphasized that Mark’s victory is not only a proud moment for Nigeria but also a significant triumph for women, as her success serves as a beacon of hope and motivation.
“Nigeria is proud of you, and we, the womenfolk, are even prouder. I pray that you continue to achieve success and many more victories,” she added.
Onyinyechi Mark secured the gold medal in the women’s 61kg powerlifting category at the ongoing 2024 Paris Paralympics in France, with an impressive lift of 150kg.
The 23-year-old emerged victorious on Friday, defeating China’s Cui Jianjin, who claimed the silver medal with a lift of 140kg, and Mexico’s Amelia Perez, who took the bronze with a lift of 130kg.
