First Lady urges collective action to boost food production
By Kunle Sanni –
First Lady Oluremi Tinubu has called on Nigerians to work together to strengthen food production and ensure a healthier, more prosperous nation for future generations.
In her message to mark World Food Day 2025, celebrated globally on October 16 with the theme “Hand in Hand for Better Food and a Better Future,” Mrs. Tinubu said food security is a shared responsibility that requires collaboration across all sectors.
“The future we want — one free from hunger and malnutrition — is within our reach, but it requires every one of us to work together to transform our food systems,” she said. “Let us commit today to build a nation where everyone is involved in food production for a better, healthier, and more prosperous future for all.”
The First Lady emphasised the need for partnerships that promote sustainable agriculture, reduce food waste, and guarantee access to affordable and nutritious food for all Nigerian families.
She noted that achieving lasting food security depends not only on government initiatives but also on the collective efforts of farmers, private organisations, communities, and individuals across the country.
Mrs. Tinubu concluded her message by wishing Nigerians a happy World Food Day and reaffirming her commitment to initiatives that promote nutrition, sustainable livelihoods, and national development.
