Three trapped, two rescued as 3-storey building collapses in Lagos

Three people were reportedly trapped as a 3-storey building collapsed at Oye Sonuga Street, Palm Avenue, Mushin, Lagos State on Friday.

WesternPost gathered that two victims have been rescued, while three female occupants were still under the debris of the building as at time of filing this report.

Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Dr Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu, in a statement, said that the agency and other first responders were carrying out search and rescue operations at the site.

Oke-Osanyintolu added: ”On arrival of LRT at the scene of incident, it was discovered that a 3 storey building had collapsed at aforementioned address.

“Further investigation revealed that the collapsed building was an adjoining building to another 3 storey building.”

The LASEMA boss confirmed that two people have been rescued and treated.

“However, we were informed that two females who are occupants of the building are still missing . Search and Rescue operation is on going

“LRT, LASG fire, LNSC, LABSCA and NPF are all responders at the scene. There are visible cracks on the remaining standing building that needs urgent attention. Building has been cordoned off and evacuated, Operation still  ongoing at the scene of the incident,” he added.
