Florence Ajimobi denies involvement in alleged impeachment plot against Makinde

Former First Lady of Oyo State and Nigeria’s ambassador to Austria, Dr Florence Ajimobi, has denied allegations linking her to an alleged plot to impeach Governor Seyi Makinde.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by her media office, Ajimobi described the claims as entirely false, baseless and a deliberate act of disinformation aimed at tarnishing her image and misleading the public.
The reaction followed separate denials by members of the Oyo State House of Assembly, including Hon. Gbenga Oyekola and the Deputy Speaker, Hon. Abiodun Mohammed Fadeyi, who rejected claims of involvement in any move to destabilise the state government or receiving inducements.
Ajimobi specifically refuted reports that she hosted or participated in any meeting in Lagos or elsewhere where plans to influence lawmakers were allegedly discussed.
“At no time did I convene, attend, or participate in any such meeting with any individual or group for the purpose of discussing impeachment or destabilising the Oyo State Government,” she affirmed.
She maintained that linking her to the allegations was a form of political propaganda designed to bring her into disrepute, particularly among the people of Oyo State.
Ajimobi added that the activities of the Peoples Democratic Party in the state were of no concern to her, insisting that the claims were borne out of mischief and deliberate attempts to malign her reputation.
She reaffirmed her commitment to peace and democratic values, urging the public to disregard the reports and warning that the spread of false information could create unnecessary political tension, with legal action to be considered if the claims are not retracted.
