Nigeria’s Flying Eagles kicked off their campaign at the 18th CAF TotalEnergies U-20 Africa Cup of Nations with a narrow 1-0 victory over Tunisia.

Auwal Ibrahim scored the decisive goal in the 37th minute, finishing off a brilliant assist from the lively Odinaka Okoro to secure all three points in the Group B opener played Thursday evening at the June 30 Stadium in Cairo.

The Nigerian side appeared to have been awarded a penalty in the second half, but the decision was overturned after a VAR review.

With the win, Coach Aliyu Zubairu’s boys sit at the top of the group ahead of the clash between Morocco and Kenya later tonight.

The Flying Eagles will now turn their focus to Sunday’s crucial encounter against Morocco. A win will guarantee their place in the knockout stage of the tournament.
