Focus on mentorship, economic empowerment -Oluremi Tinubu urges women leaders

By Kunle Sanni –

First Lady Oluremi Tinubu has urged women in leadership roles to intentionally empower younger women through mentorship and economic assistance.

During a courtesy visit from the Forum of Female Chief Executive Officers of Government Agencies and Organizations at the State House in Abuja, Senator Tinubu praised the CEOs as pioneers responsible for creating opportunities for others.

“Invest in others by mentoring them. Replicate yourselves in other women, and that is how we build strength,” she stated. “Leave a lasting impact through your actions beyond your official duties.”

The First Lady encouraged the women to draw motivation from Nigeria’s historic matriarchs like Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti, Margaret Ekpo, Gambo Sawaba, and Abibat Mogaji, who were known for their unity and advocacy for women.

“We must unite and become stronger than they were. Our goal is to make life easier for women. Mentor young women, offer scholarships, and support one person at a time. Don’t focus on quantity,” she emphasized.

Senator Tinubu reaffirmed her dedication to completing the National Library project, highlighting its importance for supporting underprivileged students in their education.

Representing the Forum, the Director-General of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, expressed the group’s commitment to supporting the Tinubu administration and its Renewed Hope agenda.

“As a collective, Your Excellency, we take our responsibilities seriously and are deeply grateful to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for entrusting us with these roles,” Dabiri-Erewa said. “We affirm our unwavering support for your initiatives and pledge to collaborate closely with your office to advance progress, women’s empowerment, and national development.”
