Several governorship aspirants of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State, including Teslim Folarin, Bayo Adelabu, Akeem Agbaje, Hakeem Alao and Rauf Olaniyan, were absent on Wednesday when the state reconciliation committee presented its findings to the party’s National Chairman, Nentawe Yilwatda, in Ibadan.
The meeting was part of efforts by the APC leadership to reconcile aggrieved members following the party’s recent primaries and strengthen its structure ahead of the 2027 general elections, with the party’s governorship candidate, Sharafadeen Alli, in attendance.
Speaking with journalists after the meeting, Yilwatda described the reconciliation process as continuous, saying disagreements among members were normal within a political organisation and that the party was addressing its internal challenges.
Yilwatda said reports received from the reconciliation committee and other stakeholders indicated that the party was stable and ready for political activities ahead, adding that the APC remained a family despite disagreements among its members.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of the reconciliation committee, Femi Lanlehin, said the panel had met with all the aggrieved aspirants and submitted its findings to the national chairman for consideration and further action.
Lanlehin said the grievances arose from dissatisfaction with the outcome of the party’s recent primaries, noting that the affected aspirants had expressed their disappointment to the committee during its consultations.
He also disclosed that the APC leadership planned to meet with President Bola Tinubu as part of efforts to resolve the disagreements, stressing that the party could not afford to lose the 2027 elections to opposition parties in Oyo State.
Lanlehin assured that the party would work to reconcile its members and supporters across the 33 local government areas, expressing confidence that the APC would win all elective positions in Oyo State in the 2027 elections.
