For enduring career, Osimhen must stay away from controversies, by Kola Amzat

Presently, Victor Osimhen is un-arguably Nigeria greatest football export to the globe.

Others who are on his heels are Ademola Lookman and Victor Boniface of Atalanta FC, Italy and Leverkusen of Germany respectively.

Oshimen, the 2023/24 African Footballer of the Year and 8th best Footballer in the entire world has remarkably done well in football.

His journey to stardom started with his exploits in Nigeria victory at Under 17 World Cup tournament in Beijing, China 2015, where he emerged Golden Ball Winner as the highest scorer during the tournament.

Since then, he has never looked back as he’s continue to hug limelight.

He had amazing career with Wolfburg FC in Germany, as well as Lille FC in France, where he shone like million stars, leading the forward line for the team, and more importantly giving PSG, the perennial champions of France, a run for their money for about two seasons while he was there.

The Nigerian international indeed came to the global reckoning when he singlehandedly led NAPOLI of Italy to an historic League triumph in year 2023, a symbolic victory that was recorded after more than 30 years when late football legend, Diego Armando Maradona led the club to win it.

For the records, Victor Oshimen also clinched the prize, meant for the highest scorer during that unforgettable season.

This development has placed him in the world consciousness, as he’s cemented his status in the global football.

Consequently, his stock has risen exponentially in the transfer market, so much that the Olusosun rookie is presently been valued at more than 100 million.

Oshimen has also been outstanding for Nigeria Super Eagles both in World Cup Qualifiers, as well as AFCON Qualifiers.

He was particularly a delight to watch for the national team during AFCON tournament where Nigeria clinched Silver Medal to emerge as runners-up in a keenly contested final match with host, Cote D’voire.

The reigning African Football of the Year is now on loan plying his trade with Galatasaray, where he has also shown to the world the stuff he’s made of, even, within his short time in Turkiye.

He moves to Turkiye after an acrimonious and tempestuous exit from NAPOLI, a club that he did so much for, but, received little or no appreciation at the end.

Oshimen’s Agent, one Roberto Calenda is also culpable, as the man displayed so much incompetence and lack of professionalism throughout, during Oshimen transfer saga that unfortunately endured till the last day of transfer.

It would be curious if the footballer refuses to part ways with that incompetent Agent in the months ahead.

But, the major concern of this writer is that Oshimen continually involves himself in needless and unnecessary controversy, which do not glorify his status as one of the best footballers presently in the globe.

I would not dwell on his outburst on Finidi George as curtains seemed to have been drawn on that better-forgotten incident.

However, I particularly detest his huge financial contributions to the cause of rescuing Bobrisky from the clutches of law after the cross dresser’s height of impunity and contempt for the law of land.

With the footballer’s eminent status, he shouldn’t be among the group of the so called celebrities encouraging such flagrant and reckless disobedience to Nigerians laws.

Rather than mingling with that group of belligerent and rebellious people who continually display so much disregard for the law of the land by making such inglorious contributions to unworthy causes, there are plenty of worthy initiatives that he could identify with, and by so doing, attracts the applause and affection of Nigerian people.

There are many motherless and orphanage houses in Lagos and across the country that Oshimen should visit with his entourage and handsomely make worthy contributions.

There are many indigent students that he could pay for their tuitions both in Tertiary Institutions, and at secondary school level, particularly, this days when Nigerians are going through very tough time and harrowing experiences.

Oshimen could as well contribute to the cause of widows and widowers in Nigeria. And, heaven would respond by rewarding him for whatever gestures he makes in this respect.

Not donating huge contributions to the unworthy cause of a man created by Almighty God in His infinite mercy, who the wicked men of the world have almost succeeded in turning to a woman!

Oshimen should please, stay away from the type of sacrilege! It’s not befitting.

As a footballer who is also the cynosure of all eyes, he’s advised to be circumspect and very watchful of his overall appearance in public with respect to totality of his outfit.

Oshimen revels in adorning his neck with heavy-duty chains, as well as all his fingers also with heavy-duty rings.

He surely doesn’t need all this stuff!

After-all, he’s not those Jamaican reggae and American Hip-hop stars who are heavily on drugs who have penchant for such costumes.

Without taking anything from Oshimen, he’s a purposed, focus, determined, resourceful and hardworking young man.

At this stage of his career, he indeed needs support of all, especially members of his family, psychologically, mentally and spiritually, in order to reach his potentials, especially, now that, his father and mother are no more.

Of course, there are plenty of grounds for him to conquer and happily, he possesses amazing talent to achieve that.

It’s incumbent on all of us, especially people who are very close to him to rally round him at all times.
