Forgery allegations politically motivated, says Minister of Science Nnaji

The Minister of Innovation, Science, and Technology, Hon. Uche Geoffrey Nnaji, has refuted reports challenging his academic credentials, calling them politically motivated attempts to damage his reputation.
The minister, who spoke through his spokesperson, Dr Robert Ngwu, stated that University of Nigeria Nsukka records indicate he earned a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology and Biochemistry, Second Class Honours, lower division, in July 1985.
He claimed that the controversy started after opposition figures assumed important positions at the university, characterising recent reports denying his graduation as false and politically motivated.
The minister disclosed that the Federal High Court in Abuja has issued a restraining order stopping the university from altering his records and ordering the publication of his academic transcript, calling on the University of Nigeria not to allow itself to be exploited for political ends.
