Forget about sex-for-role in Nollywood, says Jide Kosoko

Veteran Nollywood actor and film producer, Prince Jide Kosoko, has stated that the issue of sex-for-role in the Nigerian movie industry should not be viewed from a single perspective.

The 71-year-old Lagos prince shared his views in a podcast, emphasizing that while no one can be coerced into exchanging sex for roles, some individuals enter the industry with the intention of using such means to advance their careers.

“If I ask you to warm my bed in exchange for a role, and you say no, no one can force you to do it. If someone makes an offer you’re not interested in, simply say no,” he said.

“All this talk about sex-for-role—forget about it. I know some ladies who come into the industry determined that by sleeping with certain people, they will make a name for themselves.”

This marks the first time Kosoko has publicly addressed the controversial issue of sex-for-role in the Nigerian film industry.
