Former CPC members reaffirm loyalty to APC, support for Tinubu

Key figures from the defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), one of the legacy parties that formed the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), have reaffirmed their unwavering commitment to the party and declared strong support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his administration.
In a press statement released on Thursday, April 16, 2025, and signed by Senator Umaru Tanko Al-Makura and Mr. Osita Okechukwu on behalf of 25 prominent CPC stakeholders, the group dismissed reports suggesting a rift or defection within their ranks as “mischievous and misleading.”
“We have neither left the APC nor do we intend to leave,” the statement read. “The CPC bloc remains one of the legacy foundations of the APC, and we are resolute in our commitment to the party and its progressive ideals.”
The signatories expressed pride in the sacrifices made to form the APC and reiterated that any attempts to sow disunity or dismantle the party would not reflect the stance of genuine CPC members. They also called for better internal communication and engagement within the APC to address grievances and foster unity.
Acknowledging the challenges of the current economic reforms, the group expressed confidence in President Tinubu’s leadership, urging Nigerians to support his policies, which they described as “necessary steps to rebuild our economy and secure a better future.”
The statement also encouraged party members with concerns to seek redress through established party mechanisms rather than resorting to public dissent or hasty exits.
Amid growing political realignments, the CPC bloc’s firm declaration of allegiance to the APC and President Tinubu is seen as a strategic move to reinforce unity within the party ahead of upcoming political cycles.
Among the signatories were former governors, lawmakers, and party leaders, including Senator Ibrahim Musa, Mallam Adamu Adamu, Hon. Farouk Adamu Aliyu, Arc. Waziri Bulama, and Chief Okoi Obono-Obla.
