Former EBS Managing Director, Sulaiman Aledeh returns to Channels TV

Former Managing Director of the Edo State Broadcasting Service (EBS), Sulaiman Aledeh, has returned to Channels Television’s flagship breakfast programme, Sunrise Daily, a decade after leaving the station.

Aledeh made his comeback on Tuesday, returning to the station where he previously established himself as one of the programme’s prominent anchors. The hosts, Maupe Ogun and Kayla Megwa, welcomed him with a rendition of the classic song Home, Sweet Home.

The veteran broadcaster described his return as a homecoming and a full-circle moment, saying he had gained valuable experience during his decade away from the station.

“I never thought this day would come, but here it is — the 1st of September, 2026. The mothership called, and we returned to the mothership. It is humbling. It is more like a homecoming. It’s a full circle. I remember I left with lessons, but I’m back with experience,” Aledeh said.

Aledeh also addressed speculation surrounding his departure from Channels Television, dismissing suggestions that he had left the station following a disagreement with its management.

During his previous stint, Aledeh was part of the Sunrise Daily team known for incisive political interviews and extensive coverage of major national events, including the 2015 general elections. He subsequently spent the next 10 years working across different broadcast stations and media organisations.

Aledeh, who joked about ageing like “fine wine”, said his return would be more complete if his former co-anchor, Chamberlain Usoh, rejoined the programme. “I don’t feel completely complete yet — and I’m saying this so that if Chamberlain is listening, I want him back on set. That’s how we will have what I call a full circle: the complete gang,” he said.

Aledeh resigned as managing director of EBS in a letter dated May 30, 2026, saying the decision was to allow him to devote his full attention to the next phase of his professional career as a media practitioner and pursue other endeavours as a private citizen.
