Foundation moves to bridge social gap with support for vulnerable, targets scholarship

An Engineer, Kolawole Adepoju, has formally launched the Kolawole Adepoju Dream Foundation, an initiative aimed at improving the lives of vulnerable individuals through education, healthcare and community development programmes.

The foundation, which was unveiled recently in Lagos, attracted friends, supporters and professionals who pledged to partner with the organisation in advancing its mission of supporting disadvantaged groups.

Speaking at the launch, Adepoju said the foundation was established to help bridge the widening gap between the privileged and the underprivileged, stressing that making a meaningful impact does not necessarily require enormous wealth.

“It is not necessarily true that one has to be rich to help others. Small acts of kindness can make a big difference,” he said. “We live in a world where the divide between the ‘haves’ and the ‘have-nots’ continues to widen, and it is important for those who are blessed to reach out to those in need.”

Adepoju explained that the foundation’s key focus areas include adopting public schools, awarding scholarships to indigent but promising students, and supporting health and community-based interventions.

“There are many brilliant students who lack opportunities. Through our school adoption programme, we will identify and support students so they can pursue their dreams without hindrance,” he added.

He disclosed that the foundation’s Board of Trustees comprises seasoned technocrats, including Seyi Adefemi, Lekan Onipede, Olawale Adepoju, Kenneth Akan and Kazeem Adeoye.

Adepoju noted that although he had personally funded the foundation’s activities for several years, the formal launch was necessary to attract more partners and expand its reach. He therefore called on individuals and corporate organisations to collaborate with the foundation in addressing pressing societal needs.

The event also served as a fundraising platform, with guests and speakers commending the initiative and pledging support for its programmes.
