Four adults, 3 students died in Osun fatal road accident

No fewer than seven persons, including school children have been confirmed dead in a fatal road accident that occurred at the front of WOCDIF Events Centre, Ring Road along Osogbo-Ilobu road in the capital city of Osun State on Tuesday.
The multiple accident, involved a commercial bus with the registration number RBC 15 ZN, a tricycle with marked RLG 898 QE and a motorcycle with registration number SGB 630 DN.
Confirming the accident, the Public Enlightenment Officer, Federal Road Safety Corps, (FRSC), Osun Command, Agnes Ogungbemi, said a total of eight people were involved in the accident, comprising four men and three children (two male and one female).
Ogungbemi, said four persons died on the spot of the accident while three out of the four persons taken to Osun State Teaching Hospital died at the Hospital.
The FRSC spokesperson noted that the accident was caused by a tyre burst speed violation and loss of control on the part of the commercial bus.

Meanwhile, Governor Ademola Adeleke has expressed sadness by the news of the fatal accident.
Adeleke conveyed the heartfelt sympathy of the Government and the people of Osun state to the families of those touched by the incident.
He called on users of road to exercise caution and adhere strictly to safety guidance on roads, saying the State Government under him will work with relevant authorities to make the road more safer for road users.
While commending the state’s emergency service for the swiftness in responding to mishap, the governor declared the willingness of his administration to continue to pursue efforts to guide against an experience like this.
“I am distraught to hear about the terrible accident that resulted in the death of five people in Osogbo due to a fatal accident while five other people sustained injuries of varying degrees. It is really painful for me, and I want to use this avenue to commiserate with the families of the deceased.
“It is my prayer that God Almighty repose their souls and give their loved ones the fortitude to bear the irreparable losses occasioned by their death. As a government, we will give the needed support to the injured and pray for their quick recoveries,”Adeleke noted.
