Fraudsters on the loose as Nigerians receive fake N450,000 NIRSAL MfB loan messages

Fraudsters on Saturday sent Short Message Service (SMS) to Nigerians to access N450,000 NIRSAL Microfinance Bank (MfB) Non-interest targeted credit facility (TCF) household loan.
SMS obtained by WESTERN POST linked victims to a website not connected to NIRSAL MfB with a demand to provide account details, National Identification Number (NIN) and Biometric Verification Number (BVN) before accessing the loan.
The message obtained by WESTERN POST reads, “Dear Household beneficiary, accept Your N450,000 NIRSAL Microfinance Bank Palliative for March NCTO Conditional Cash Transfer at: https://hupncto.com.ng“
Once the application is completed, it is also required to pay a sum of N3,000 acceptance fee to Sinfer HUB FARMS with account number: 4944406525. Bank Name: Moni point MfB.
NIRSAL in February 2025 warned Nigerians to stay alert and safe from scammers.
NIRSAL on X tweets, “Scammers are getting smarter, but so are we! NIRSAL Microfinance Bank will never ask for processing fees to access loans. Don’t fall for fraudulent websites pretending to be us. If it looks suspicious, report it!”
