FRSC confirms four dead in Ibadan multiple road crash

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has confirmed that four persons died in a multiple accident that occurred early Tuesday morning along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, near the Soka area in Ibadan.

FRSC Oyo State Sector Commander, Rosemary Alo, said the crash involved seven vehicles, including a Nissan Micra (MAP 286 ZY), Toyota Camry (KSF 339 DS), another Camry (GGE 90 JX), a commercial Nissan (LUY 799), an Iveco tanker (BAM 22 XA), a DAF truck with an unknown plate number, and another truck (T 28238 LA).

She disclosed that 11 persons were involved in the crash, out of which four — one male and three females — lost their lives, while one female sustained injuries and was taken to the hospital.

Alo noted that the crash victims were not protected by seat belts or other safety equipment, and no personal items were recovered from the scene.

She attributed the crash to excessive speeding and advised drivers to adopt defensive driving techniques to prevent such tragedies.

The FRSC boss also stated that the injured victim was rescued by officers from Sanyo Police Station before the FRSC rescue team arrived at the scene.

The corpses of the deceased have been deposited at Adeoyo State Hospital morgue in Ibadan.

Alo added that the Divisional Transport Officer (DTO) of the Sanyo Police Division, ASP Adesina Oluwole, oversaw the clearing of the accident scene, and one of the bodies was released to a family member with the DPO’s authorization.
