FRSC decorates 176 promoted personnel in Ondo

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ondo State Sector Command, has decorated 176 personnel recently promoted in the state, comprising 50 senior officers and 126 marshals.

The decoration ceremony, held in Akure, was conducted by the Sector Commander, Dr. Samuel Ibitoye, who urged the beneficiaries to see their new ranks as greater responsibilities rather than mere career advancement.

Ibitoye said the promotions were aimed at strengthening the corps’ efficiency, resilience and service delivery. He therefore charged the promoted personnel to deepen their commitment to road safety and the protection of road users.

Giving a breakdown of the promotions, the sector commander said five officers rose from Chief Route Commander to Assistant Corps Commander, seven from Superintendent Route Commander to Chief Route Commander, seven from Route Commander to Superintendent Route Commander, 18 from Deputy Route Commander to Route Commander, and 13 from Assistant Route Commander to Deputy Route Commander.

For the marshals, Ibitoye said one Assistant Chief Inspector was promoted to Deputy Chief Inspector; five Principal Marshal Inspectors to Assistant Chief Inspectors; five Senior Marshal Inspectors to Principal Marshal Inspectors; eight Marshal Inspectors I to Senior Marshal Inspectors; 21 Marshal Inspectors II to Marshal Inspectors I; and 14 Marshal Inspectors III to Marshal Inspectors II.

He further disclosed that 14 Deputy Chief Road Marshal Assistants were promoted to Chief Road Marshal Assistants, seven Senior Road Marshal Assistants to Deputy Road Marshal Assistants, 48 Road Marshal Assistants I to Senior Road Marshal Assistants, while three Road Marshal Assistants II rose to Road Marshal Assistants I.

Meanwhile, the sector commander charged the newly promoted personnel to intensify road safety advocacy, enforcement, engineering audits and public engagement as part of efforts to reduce road traffic crashes. He also urged personnel who were not promoted to improve their performance and dedication.

A former FRSC Corps Commander, Mr. Michael Adigun, advised the beneficiaries to maintain diligence and high performance in their new positions. Speaking on behalf of the promoted personnel, ACC Opeyemi Adigun thanked the corps for recognising their efforts and pledged their renewed commitment to serving humanity and the nation.
