Fubara finally recognizes Wike’s ally as Rivers House of Assembly Speaker in official communication

The Rivers State Government has officially acknowledged the Speaker of the State House of Assembly backed by former Governor Nyesom Wike, following a recent Supreme Court judgment.

In a letter addressed to the Assembly and signed by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Chief Dr. Tammy Wenike Danagogo, the government confirmed that it had taken note of the Assembly’s resolutions but had yet to receive formal communication from the lawmakers.

The statement clarified that as of the close of work on March 4, neither the Governor’s Office, the Deputy Governor’s Office, nor the Office of the Accountant-General had received the letter, despite its circulation on social media.

The letter referenced Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s March 2 state broadcast, where he affirmed his commitment to obeying the Supreme Court’s ruling, regardless of his personal views. He assured that the government would act in line with the rule of law and in the best interest of the state.

Danagogo also revealed that the government’s legal team is still awaiting a certified true copy of the Supreme Court judgment and reassured the public that Governor Fubara would implement the decision as soon as the official documents are received.
