Fuel scarcity bites harder in Oyo
…as residents lament hike in commodities, transport fare

Richard Thomas, Ibadan
Residents of Oyo State have continued to lament the untold hardship facing them in the last few weeks over scarcity of spirit otherwise known as petrol.
Some petrol stations visited by Western Post in Ibadan were closed, while the few ones operating had long queues of vehicles and motorcycles.
The fews ones with fuel were selling at between N195 and N250.
Managers of Prizetol Petrol station and others in Ibadan who did not want their names mentioned said the inadequate supply of the product to filling stations resulted into the long queues they have been experiencing over the weeks.
The however called for timely intervention of government and concerned stakeholders in order to salvage the situation.
Some motorists who spoke with Western Post decried the development, saying the scarcity of PMS had given them very tough time as some of them passed the night at filling stations to get the product.
Mr Olugbenga Oladele a commercial motorist and other people who were on the queue to buy petrol appealed to government to intervene on the issue in order to make things come back to normalcy.
The development has forced prices of commodities to sky rocket as commuters and other commercial motorists now charge exorbitant prices for various destinations.
It will be recalled that fuel scarcity fist hit the nation about a month ago as a result of bad petrol product mixed with Sulphur which came into circulation.
