Galatasaray admit Osimhen’s absence hurting title push

Galatasaray players have admitted that the absence of Victor Osimhen has cost the team valuable points in recent matches.
Osimhen sustained an arm injury last month during a UEFA Champions League clash against Liverpool and is not expected to return to action until later this month.
According to leading Turkish newspaper Sabah, the Galatasaray squad recently held a meeting to assess their recent performances, concluding that Osimhen’s absence has negatively impacted their results.
“We’ve grown so used to Osimhen. When he is on the field, we get results through forward pressure and pressing,” the newspaper quoted the players as saying.
They also acknowledged the difficulty of replicating his style, adding: “Mauro Icardi isn’t Osimhen and cannot play the same way.”
Galatasaray have dropped eight points since Osimhen’s injury and now sit just one point ahead of second-placed Trabzonspor in the title race, with six matches remaining in the season.
