Oyo State will be represented by 320 athletes, supported by 65 coaches and 36 officials, at the upcoming National Sports Festival taking place in Ogun State from May 16 to 30, 2025.

The state, known as the Pacesetter, will compete in 32 sports—27 compulsory and five optional events. Speaking at the Lekan Salami Stadium, the Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Honourable Wasilat Adefemi Adegoke, assured athletes of instant rewards for medal-winning performances, along with other morale-boosting incentives.

She disclosed that Governor Seyi Makinde has approved a minimum wage of eighty thousand naira for athletes, coaches, and sports officers on contract appointments in the state.

“This gesture by Governor Makinde will not only lift the morale of our athletes but also motivate them for the festival and future competitions,” Adegoke stated.

The commissioner added that all necessary provisions would be made to ensure a conducive environment for the athletes during the festival.
