Ghanaian referee Daniel Laryea to officiate Nigeria–Morocco semi-final tie

Ghanaian referee Daniel Laryea will be in charge when Nigeria’s Super Eagles take on the Atlas Lions of Morocco in Wednesday’s semi-final match of the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) listed the officials for the encounter, with Laryea at the centre.

He will be assisted by Zakhele Thusi and Granville Siwela of South Africa as first assistant referees, Souru Phatsoane of Lesotho as assistant referee two, and Arsenio Chadreque of Mozambique as assistant referee three, while Samuel Uwikunda of Rwanda will serve as the fourth official.

CAF also named the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) officials for the match.

Abongile Tom of South Africa will head the VAR team, assisted by Haythem Guirat of Tunisia, Stephen Onyango Yembe of Kenya and Lydia Tafesse Abebe of Ethiopia.

The high-flying Super Eagles will face the host nation in the crunch semi-final match billed to kick off at 9 pm at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat.

The Nigeria–Morocco encounter will be preceded by the first semi-final involving the Pharaohs of Egypt and the Teranga Lions of Senegal, slated to hold at 6 pm at the Grand Stade de Tangier.
