Ghana’s coach admits Nigeria’s superiority after Unity Cup defeat

Following his side’s 2-1 defeat to Nigeria in the Unity Cup semi-final on Wednesday night, Black Stars head coach Otto Addo admitted that the Super Eagles were the better side, noting that Nigeria fielded a more mature and cohesive team.

Goals from Cyriel Dessers and an own goal by Simpson sealed the win for Nigeria, while Ghana, who struggled throughout the match, managed to pull one back in the second half through Thomas Asante.

Speaking after the game, Addo cited a lack of cohesion among his players as a major challenge.

“It’s not always easy, especially when we have players who haven’t played together often,” he said.
“Nigeria has a more mature team that adapted quicker. We struggled to press, engage in duels, and maintain our defensive structure.”

With the win, Nigeria advances to the Unity Cup final, where they will face Jamaica, while the Black Stars will play Trinidad and Tobago in the third-place playoff.
