Global Wissen Consult seeks collaboration with LASG on digital skills training 

A Swedish Embassy-backed digital training firm, Global Wissen Consult, has expressed intention to collaborate with the Lagos State Ministry of Tertiary Education on digital training of students in state-owned tertiary institutions.

This was made known in a meeting held between the management of the Ministry, Vice Chancellors, Provosts of the state-owned tertiary institutions, and the digital training consult at Alausa-Ikeja.

Addressing the representatives of the Global Wissen Consult, the Commissioner for Tertiary Education in Lagos state, Tolani Sule expressed the Ministry’s enthusiasm to collaborate with the company and other similar organisations on education matters to enrich the educational curriculum of the state tertiary institutions and to improve knowledge of the students.

He said, “We recognize the importance of digital literacy in enhancing the employability and competitiveness of our students and therefore looking forward to collaborating with the Consult to provide our students with world-class digital training and information technology.”

According to him, the Lagos state government and the Ministry recognized the importance of digital literacy in enhancing the employability and competitiveness of our students, as the reason the state government invested in digital training facilities, information technology infrastructure and provided the necessary human capital in all its tertiary institutions.

He said that the implementation of education policies such as Eko Digital Skills and Job Initiative Lagos (JIL) are to improve entrepreneurial skills, artificial and digital intelligence of our tertiary institutions students and Lagos youths in general.

Speaking at the meeting, the representative of the digital firm, Nathalie Sundelin, emphasised the importance of digital literacy in today’s fast-paced technological landscape, adding “Our goal is to empower students with the digital skills necessary to compete in the global job market”.

According to her, the collaboration will provide students with access to cutting-edge training programmes, focusing on areas such as digital marketing, design, emerging technologies, business management, and creativity skills.
