‘Go after sponsors of insecurity’ – APC chieftain tells Tinubu, security chiefs

By Deborah Oladejo, Osogbo
A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Hon. Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, has urged President Bola Tinubu and heads of security agencies to take decisive action against those funding insecurity across the country.
Oyintiloye, a former member of the defunct APC Presidential Campaign Council, made the call on Sunday in Osogbo while reacting to recent violent attacks in Benue and Plateau states, describing the killings of innocent citizens as pathetic and unacceptable.
He stressed that as long as bandits continued to have access to food and arms, efforts to defeat them would remain difficult.
The former lawmaker said arresting the suppliers of weapons, logistics, food, and drugs to criminal elements would significantly weaken their operations and help security agencies gain control.
“To effectively combat insecurity, it is vital to target those financing criminal activities,” he said. “This requires strengthened intelligence gathering, anti-corruption enforcement, and international collaboration to block financial flows.”
Oyintiloye acknowledged the ongoing efforts of security operatives but insisted more must be done to expose those enabling banditry.
He added that no criminal network could function without support from behind the scenes and called for greater scrutiny of those aiding insurgents.
He concluded by warning that those exploiting insecurity for political gain should be treated as enemies of Nigeria.
