God will show me if to contest 2023 presidency – Lawan

Senate President Ahmed Lawan says his presidential ambition in the 2023 elections is in God’s hands.

News had filtered over the weekend the Lawan was set to declare for the nation’s number one seat.

But speaking on Monday while answering questions from state house correspondents after a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari, Lawan said his decision on the matter will be in line with divine direction.

“I thought you were going to ask me about what we want to do in 2022. We passed the budget for 2022, a budget for consolidation of what we have been able to achieve in 2020, when we had an implementation of 100 percent,” he said.

“The year 2021 has just finished — another 100 percent implementation of budget — and we’re looking forward to ensuring that the 2022 budget is also implemented by 100 percent.

“If we stabilise our economy, we stabilise our country, then people can contest. But for now, everything is speculative and I believe that God, in His infinite mercy, will show us the way,” he said.
