Gombe scores 80 points in OGP open governance ranking

Gombe State has recorded 80 points in the third-quarter 2026 Subnational Status Ranking of the Open Government Partnership (OGP) Nigeria, placing the state among those recognised for progress in open government implementation and participatory governance.
According to a statement issued by Ismaila Uba Misilli, Director-General, Press Affairs, Government House, Gombe, the assessment examined indicators including the existence of a State Action Plan (SAP), multi-stakeholder forums, a functional secretariat, online platforms and evidence of high-level political commitment to open government.
Misilli said the assessment reflected efforts by the administration of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya to strengthen mechanisms for citizen participation, openness, accountability and inclusive governance.
He said the recognition also underscored the government’s efforts to create an environment where citizens and stakeholders could participate in governance and development processes.
The statement said the latest assessment came against the backdrop of efforts by the state government to strengthen governance institutions, deepen stakeholder engagement and promote transparency in the implementation of government policies and programmes.
Misilli said the state government would build on the reported progress by strengthening governance structures, expanding citizen participation and ensuring that government remains responsive to the needs of residents.
The OGP assessment is focused on the extent to which subnational governments are putting in place institutional structures associated with open governance, including transparency, accountability and public participation.
