Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has congratulated the people of the state, especially the Muslim community, on the arrival of the new Hijrah Year, 1447 AH.

The governor also approved Thursday, the first day of Muharram 1447, as a public holiday across the state to mark the beginning of the Islamic calendar year.

This was contained in a statement issued on Wednesday by his Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, in Ilorin.

Governor AbdulRazaq urged Muslims to reflect on the significance of Hijrah, noting its importance in promoting unity, peaceful coexistence, and mutual respect in society.

He called for renewed commitment to excellent human relations, dialogue, and harmonious living, stressing that the lessons of Hijrah encourage both personal and collective sacrifices for the greater good.

The governor added that Hijrah reminds the faithful to abandon all actions that undermine peace, harmony, and social justice.

AbdulRazaq prayed that the new Hijrah Year brings peace, prosperity, renewed faith, and enduring happiness to all families in Kwara State and Nigeria.
