Gov AbdulRazaq rewards Kwara’s Federation Cup champions with cash, land

By Mosunmola Ayobami, Ilorin –
Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has awarded cash prizes and other benefits to players of Kwara United Football Club following their historic victory as the 2025 President Federation Cup champions.
Governor AbdulRazaq announced a reward of ₦5 million and a plot of land at the exclusive Kwara Smart City for each player, praising them for their dedication and success.
Kwara United had defeated Abakaliki FC via a penalty shootout after a goalless 90-minute game to secure the prestigious trophy.

The team’s return to Ilorin was met with celebration as residents lined the streets from Eiyenkorin to the Government Reservation Area (GRA), where the reception was held at the Banquet Hall.
“This is the biggest trophy in Nigeria today. It is even older than the league itself. I congratulate everyone who made this possible,” the governor said, recalling his administration’s efforts to revive the club since 2019.
Governor AbdulRazaq dedicated the victory to the late Alhaji Yusuf Salami, a philanthropist who once tried unsuccessfully to bring the trophy to Kwara, and commended the players, Head Coach Tunde Sanni, Sports Commission Chairman Bola Magaji, and Club Chairman Kumbi Titiloye for their commitment.
The governor also hosted the club’s under-19 team, winners of the inaugural National Youth League.
AbdulRazak commended both squads for bringing honour to the state.
The event was attended by several dignitaries, including members of the State House of Assembly, cabinet officials, sports administrators, and political leaders.
