Kwara State Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, on Friday, officiated the swearing-in ceremony of six newly appointed High Court Judges in Ilorin. This latest appointment brings the total number of judges sworn in under his administration to eleven in the past five years.

Speaking at the event, the governor highlighted the significance of the occasion, stating: “It is a privilege to swear in these newly appointed judges of the Kwara State High Court. This is a milestone for our administration, as six judges take the judicial oath today. This reflects our commitment to ensuring access to justice, fairness, and the rule of law.”

Governor AbdulRazaq also expressed pride in the fact that these appointments bring the total number of High Court judges under his administration to eleven within five years. He congratulated the judges and their families, commending their dedication and integrity that have led to their elevation.

“You have been entrusted with the immense responsibility of upholding justice and ensuring the protection of every citizen’s rights,” the governor remarked. “I am confident that you will discharge your duties with diligence, impartiality, and in the best interest of the community and national security.”

In his speech, the governor reminded the newly appointed judges of the profound impact their decisions would have on society, quoting Usman Dan Fodio: “A kingdom can endure unbelief, but it cannot endure injustice.”

Governor AbdulRazaq further pledged his administration’s continuous support to the judiciary, noting efforts already made to improve judicial infrastructure. “We have renovated and remodeled several courts across the state. Recently, I approved the reconstruction of the former Revenue Court at GRA Ilorin to provide more courtrooms for judges, while also creating a more suitable environment for the Revenue Courts in the state.”

He added that plans are in place, subject to available resources, for the construction of a new court complex to ensure adequate facilities for the judiciary. Official SUVs have also been provided to the newly appointed judges, and a strong working relationship between the executive and judiciary has ensured the timely payment of allowances and entitlements.

The governor lauded the judiciary, legislature, and security agencies for their collaborative efforts in fostering development and ensuring peaceful coexistence in Kwara State. He urged them to continue working together in the pursuit of a greater Kwara State and Nigeria.

“Distinguished ladies and gentlemen, let me once again congratulate the judges and remind them to always uphold the banner of justice,” he concluded.
