Kwara State Governor Abdulrahman AbdulRazaq on Monday inaugurated the newly elected chairpersons and vice chairpersons of the 16 local government areas, tasking them to exercise prudence and prioritize the welfare of their communities.

Speaking at the swearing-in ceremony held at the Government House in Ilorin, the Governor congratulated the local government leaders, their families, party stakeholders, and community members who contributed to their emergence.

He urged the new officials to work with integrity and set achievable goals, emphasizing the importance of leaving behind a legacy of fairness and effective governance.

“Be conscious of your legacies. Be fair to everyone and to yourself. Attend to the needs of the people, and be open to positive engagements across board,” Governor AbdulRazaq said.

He also advised the newly sworn-in officials to remain sensitive to the current economic challenges facing the country. “Our economy is undergoing reforms, which has caused some hardships for the people. Please be sensitive to the realities of the time. Don’t indulge yourselves while the people struggle.”

The event was attended by several dignitaries, including the Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Danladi-Salihu, Chief Judge Ayodele Adebara, and APC Chairman Prince Sunday Fagbemi, among other government officials and party elders.

Prince Sunday Fagbemi praised the Governor for his leadership and commitment to the state’s development, stating, “This is a great moment. We have just cemented the foundation laid for the good of Kwara. The agenda is to develop Kwara and take the state to the next level.”

Majeed Bolakale Podo, chairman of Ilorin South, speaking on behalf of his colleagues, pledged that they would work diligently to serve the people and improve their communities.

The Governor urged the new officials to explore innovative ways to cooperate and complement each other for greater achievements at the local government level.
