Ondo State Governor, Honourable Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has inaugurated the Ondo State Football Agency Management Committee in a bid to revitalise and reposition the state-owned football clubs.

A statement issued on Friday by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan, said the committee comprises individuals with diverse expertise in sports management and will operate directly under the Governor’s office.

The five-man committee has Mr. Divine Ogbonnaya as General Manager and Prince Dapo Ajibade as Marketing Consultant.

Other members are Segun Joseph; Awosakin Iloyomade, representing the state’s Football Association; and Iyabo Ajanaku.

According to the statement, the committee will manage the affairs of Sunshine Stars Football Club, Sunshine Queens Football Club, and Sunshine Stars Under-19.

The Governor had earlier promised to take necessary measures to ensure Sunshine Stars and Sunshine Queens make a swift return to the nation’s premier leagues.

Aiyedatiwa urged the new management to conduct a comprehensive review of the clubs’ challenges and reverse their downward trajectory.

The Owena Whales were relegated from the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) at the end of the 2024/25 season and will now compete in the Nigeria National League (NNL) in the 2025/26 season.
