Gov Eno lays ceremonial foundation for AHOOAS project in Akwa Ibom

The Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Umo Eno, has laid the ceremonial foundation for the Affordable Home Ownership Option for All Soldiers (AHOOAS) project during a groundbreaking ceremony held in the Nsit Atai-Uruan Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.

The Governor, who was represented by the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Akwa Ibom State, Uko Udom (SAN), commended the leadership of the Nigerian Army (NA) for their unwavering dedication to the welfare of their personnel. He expressed his delight in being part of this landmark initiative and lauded the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, for his commitment to ensuring that soldiers have access to decent living conditions and opportunities to own their homes.

Governor Eno emphasized the significance of the AHOOAS project in boosting the morale and well-being of the troops, which, according to him, is essential for maintaining a strong and effective military force.

In his remarks, the COAS reiterated the importance of the project as part of his broader strategy to enhance the quality of life for NA personnel. He expressed his gratitude to the Akwa Ibom State Government for its support and collaboration in bringing the project to fruition.

He further emphasized that the groundbreaking ceremony represented a critical step in the ongoing efforts to improve the welfare of soldiers by offering affordable and quality housing options with discounted prices and payment plans that would support their continued dedicated service to the nation.

Earlier, the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Post-Service Housing Development Limited (PHDL), Major General Joseph Omali, highlighted the critical role of the AHOOAS project in addressing the housing needs of soldiers. He noted that the project aligned with the NA’s commitment to the welfare of its personnel. Major General Omali expressed his gratitude to the COAS and the Akwa Ibom State Government for their support and commitment to making the project a reality.

Significant aspects of the event included the laying of the foundation stone for the project, the accompanying photographic documentation of the occasion, and a presentation from an indigenous cultural group.
