Gov Eno pledges commitment to inclusive leadership in Akwa Ibom
…highlights inclusiveness in 2025 budget
Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has reiterated his dedication to providing inclusive and responsible governance, ensuring respect for past leaders, and promoting unity across political and ethnic lines.
The governor made this pledge during a special Sunday worship service at Saint Anne Cathedral, Ikot Ekpene Catholic Diocese, in Ifuho, Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area.
Addressing the congregation, he expressed gratitude for the support his administration has received from the Christian community and the people of the Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District.
Governor Eno praised the Catholic Church for its discipline and orderliness, commending the faithful of Ikot Ekpene Diocese, led by Bishop Camillus Umoh, for their prayers and steadfast support.
He emphasized that serving in government is a unique opportunity to make a difference and reaffirmed his commitment to upholding the values of integrity and diligence.
“The success of this government is a referendum for the Church,” he said. “It will give credibility to any pastor who seeks public office in the future. I hold this position in trust and with utmost care and diligence.”
Highlighting his administration’s deliberate efforts to ensure equitable distribution of development projects across Akwa Ibom State, Governor Eno assured the congregation that the 2025 budget reflects his commitment to inclusiveness and unity.
“We have, by God’s grace, demonstrated leadership across ethnic and political lines,” he said.
“We have pursued unity as the foundation for peace, and we’ve shown respect to those who came before us. At this stage of their lives, our past leaders deserve respect and recognition.”
The service, themed “We Have Come from the East to Worship the King,” included a sermon by Bishop Camillus Umoh, who described the day as significant for marking the Solemnity of the Epiphany of Christ. He highlighted the event as a symbol of reconciliation and the collapse of barriers dividing humanity.
The Bishop called on all to embrace the essence of Christ’s gift to the world by shunning divisiveness, hatred, and discrimination.
He urged attendees to focus on actions that positively impact humanity, emphasizing reconciliation with fellow men and drawing closer to God.
The event, which marked the first Sunday of 2025, served as a moment of reflection and rededication for both the government and the people of Akwa Ibom State.
