Gov Oyebanji urges support for Tinubu’s reforms, assures growth in Ekiti

Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has called on Nigerians to support President Bola Tinubu’s reform agenda, describing it as pivotal to Nigeria’s economic recovery and prosperity.

He made this appeal on Thursday during the 2025 Interfaith Thanksgiving Service at the Obafemi Awolowo Civic and Convention Centre in Ado-Ekiti.

Speaking at the event, Governor Oyebanji urged citizens to avoid negative commentary about Nigeria, emphasizing the importance of unity and optimism. “President Tinubu means well for Nigerians with his reforms, which are already yielding dividends,” Oyebanji said.

He lauded the President’s courage in making tough but necessary decisions, including the removal of fuel subsidies, which he credited for increased allocations to states.

The governor expressed gratitude to President Tinubu, stating that the resulting boost in revenue had enabled Ekiti State to increase civil servants’ salaries, provide welfare packages, and complete critical projects.

He praised Tinubu’s leadership, saying, “After God, whatever we have achieved is through the President’s magnanimity. His bold policies are beginning to reflect positively on our state and the nation.”

Oyebanji also highlighted the recent recognition of Tinubu by THISDAY Newspaper, which named him “Man of the Year,” a move he described as a testament to the President’s impactful leadership.

On Ekiti State’s development, the governor reaffirmed his commitment to fostering growth and prosperity.

“As the chief servant of Ekiti people, I pledge to serve with every fibre of my being and to lead with the fear of God. The year 2025 will be one of accelerated growth for our state and its people,” Oyebanji said.

He acknowledged the commendations from clerics at the event for his leadership and credited his governance experience for preparing him for the task.

Oyebanji also urged affluent Ekiti indigenes, both at home and abroad, to emulate figures like Aare Afe Babalola and Chief Wole Olanipekun, who have consistently supported the state through their influence and resources.

The interfaith thanksgiving service featured songs of praise, scriptural readings, and prayers led by both Christian and Muslim clerics. Attendees included Deputy Governor Monisade Afuye, Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly Adeoye Aribasoye, Head of Service Dr. Folakemi Olomojobi, acting Chief Judge Justice Lekan Ogunmoye, traditional rulers, religious leaders, civil servants, and other dignitaries.

Governor Oyebanji concluded by urging Nigerians to remain positive about the country’s future, saying, “

As we enter 2025, let us speak positively about Nigeria. Our nation is our Jerusalem, and by fostering hope and unity, we can all find peace and prosperity.”
