Governor Adeleke not defecting to ADC – Spokesperson

By Deborah Oladejo, Osogbo –

The Spokesperson to Osun State Governor, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, has debunked rumours suggesting that Governor Ademola Adeleke is planning to defect to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) ahead of the 2026 governorship election.

In a statement released on Friday, Rasheed affirmed that Governor Adeleke remains a committed member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and will seek re-election on its platform. He expressed confidence that Adeleke would win with a wide margin.

He noted that the governor has neither held talks with ADC leaders nor explored any political alliance with the party, adding that Adeleke’s popularity and performance are sufficient to secure a second term.

“Our attention has been drawn to news reports about the alleged defection of Governor Adeleke to the ADC. There is no truth in such publications,” Rasheed said.

He added, “Governor Adeleke has no alliance with anyone in ADC. He remains in PDP, will run under PDP, and needs no alliance with ADC to secure victory in 2026.”

Rasheed further noted that the Osun PDP has already adopted President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the 2027 presidential election, which further dismisses claims of alignment with the ADC.

He asserted that the governor’s impressive performance since assuming office continues to earn the support of Osun voters, who are eager to sustain good governance in the state.

Rasheed urged PDP members to intensify grassroots mobilisation and remain united in their efforts to secure another victory for the party in the upcoming election.
