Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has announced an array of development initiatives aimed at transforming Iwo town into a hub of economic growth and prosperity.
Speaking at the 2024 Iwo Day Celebration, Governor Adeleke, represented by his spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, revealed that his administration has approved a dual carriageway project for the town. The project will be executed in two phases: the first phase will run from Odoori to the Post Office, while the second phase will extend from the Post Office to Adeeke Junction.
In addition to the dualisation project, the Governor highlighted the completion of several road projects in Iwo, including the reconstruction of the collapsed Adeeke Bridge. He also noted ongoing efforts to address the Gbongan-Iwo-Oyo road, with the Senator for Osun West actively pursuing the project.
As part of efforts to improve healthcare delivery, Governor Adeleke announced plans to upgrade the Iwo General Hospital in 2025. He emphasized that his administration has already rehabilitated 200 out of the 400 primary health centres across the state.
The Governor also unveiled the Imole Agropreneur Project, a recently launched initiative designed to boost agricultural productivity through a Public-Private Partnership.
He explained that the project seeks to create a new generation of agropreneurs, with communities expected to provide farmland while the government supplies farm inputs, land preparation, extension services, and market opportunities.
To ensure the project’s success, Governor Adeleke directed the Ministry of Agriculture to work with traditional rulers and local government officials to secure land and register interested agropreneurs.
Reiterating his commitment to lifting Iwo and other towns in Osun State out of underdevelopment, Governor Adeleke called on traditional rulers and community leaders to collaborate with his administration in advancing the state’s progress.
