Ondo State Governor, Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has urged graduates of the state’s Skill Acquisition Centres to embrace entrepreneurship and focus on job creation as a means of driving economic growth and self-reliance.
The governor gave the charge on Friday through his Senior Special Assistant on Technical and Vocational Education, Ogbeni Tayo Oluyi, at the 2025 graduation ceremony of the Skill Acquisition Centres in the Northern Senatorial District.
He described the ceremony as a reflection of fulfilled hope, noting that the graduands had been equipped with practical, market-ready skills.
“Before me stands a generation of solution providers, not job seekers waiting for opportunities, but skilled individuals prepared to create them,” he said.
Aiyedatiwa congratulated the beneficiaries, with special recognition for the 40 graduands from the Owo Vocational Training Centre, praising their dedication.
He said the state government is committed to closing the gap between skill acquisition and economic relevance by repositioning vocational education.
“We are not training for the sake of training. We are intentionally aligning your skills with the realities and demands of the 21st-century marketplace,” he added.
The governor assured the graduates of continued support through mentorship programmes and initiatives such as the Sunshine Entrepreneurs Seed Fund, urging them to build sustainable enterprises.
