Governor Eno empowers constituents with N492.7 million grants in Uyo

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has empowered 1,187 residents of Uyo Federal Constituency with farm, trade, and business grants totaling N492.7 million. The grants were disbursed during a Town Square Meeting held at the Ibom Hall grounds.
Governor Eno expressed delight at the massive turnout and revealed that 276 constituents received the ARISE Farmers grant, 628 benefited from the ARISE Traders grant, 263 were supported under the ARISE Equipment scheme, eight received the N5 million MSME grant, and 12 were given cars and mini buses.
In his remarks, Governor Eno highlighted that 116 projects have been executed across Uyo Federal Constituency’s four local government areas — Uyo, Uruan, Nsit Attai, and Ibesikpo Asutan — within his two years in office.
The meeting also served to receive the Needs document from the people, which will guide the 2026 Peoples’ budget. Governor Eno said similar empowerment initiatives will continue across all federal constituencies.
He explained that the beneficiary selection process was conducted through the ARISE Youth Employment portal, ensuring that qualified citizens were chosen.
Governor Eno appreciated the people of Uyo for their overwhelming participation, calling them “landlords of Government House,” and thanked the Secretary to the State Government, Prince Enobong Uwah, for fostering unity with the center.
He also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s federal administration for providing funds that have enabled these empowerment schemes and development projects.
Finally, the governor directed the Ibom Leadership and Entrepreneurial Development Center (Ibom LED) to select 50 women and 50 groups for another training session, after which they will receive grants to start businesses.
