Governor Makinde advocates national unity beyond ethnicity, religion

Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has called on Nigerians to unite and build a country where all citizens are treated equally, regardless of tribe or religion.

Makinde made the appeal on Saturday in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, during his 58th birthday celebration and the launch of a book about his life, organised by PDP chieftain Chief Ali Odefa.

He stated that true federalism and unity in diversity are crucial for ensuring equal opportunities for all Nigerians and urged citizens to actively support this cause.

The governor praised South East residents for their recognition and respect, calling it a sign of national unity beyond ethnic and political differences.

He also commended Odefa as a trusted friend and adviser.

Highlighting the contributions of the Igbo people across various sectors, Makinde encouraged the region to support practical federalism, irrespective of party affiliation.

Represented by Deputy Governor Patricia Obila, Ebonyi State Governor Francis Nwifuru described the book, The Seyi Makinde Story, as a valuable source of knowledge and commended Makinde’s achievements in infrastructure, education, and health.

Odefa described Makinde as a courageous, non-tribal leader and revealed that he had named one of his sons after the governor.
