Governor Makinde confirms killing of forest guards by bandits at Oyo park

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has confirmed that five National Park Service Forest Guard Officers were killed in a bandit attack at the National Park Office in Oloka Village on Wednesday.
In a statement, Governor Makinde described the incident as a “devastating loss” of personnel who were carrying out their lawful duties, and prayed for the repose of their souls.
Preliminary investigations by security agencies indicate that the attack was a cross-border operation carried out by bandits. The governor said security agencies are collaborating to address the incident and urged residents to support intelligence-gathering efforts.
He appealed to residents, particularly those in Oriire Local Government Area and other border communities, to remain calm, noting that normalcy has been restored and additional security personnel have been deployed to the area.
Governor Makinde assured that his administration would leave no stone unturned in responding decisively to prevent a recurrence of such attacks.
