Governor Makinde plotting Olubadan’s removal, says Fayose

Former Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose, has alleged that Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, is plotting to remove the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja.

Fayose made the claim in a post on X on Sunday, stating that the alleged move would begin with official queries issued to the monarch over his absence at a recent coronation ceremony in Ibadan.

According to him, the planned action is expected to commence within the week, citing what he described as other undisclosed allegations against the traditional ruler.

“I heard reliably that Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State is plotting the removal of the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rahidi Adewolu Ladoja. The plot is to commence this week, with Government Query to be issued against the Olubadan, citing his absence at the failed coronation of High Chiefs in Ibadanland two weeks ago, and other allegations,” Fayose wrote.

The allegation comes amid recent speculation of a possible disagreement between the monarch and the Oyo State Government.

However, the Olubadan Palace has dismissed claims of any rift, describing such reports as unfounded and misleading.

In a statement, the palace maintained that there was no misunderstanding between the monarch and the state government, urging the public to disregard unverified reports.

It also clarified that the monarch did not deliberately avoid the coronation ceremony, adding that he remained in Ibadan and continued to perform his duties as Olubadan.
