Governor Makinde promises lasting solution to Ibadan refuse problem

By Adejayan Gbenga –
Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has assured residents that the problem of indiscriminate refuse dumping in Ibadan will soon be permanently resolved.
The governor gave the assurance on Saturday through his Special Adviser on Media, Sulaimon Olanrewaju, while attending the wedding of Moyosore Ayorinde and Oladipo Michael Sadipe at the Cathedral of St. James the Great, Oke-Bola, Ibadan.
Makinde acknowledged that the challenge has persisted since his administration began but promised that a lasting solution is forthcoming. He also advised residents not to risk their lives for political causes, citing the wedding ceremony as an example of unity across political divides.
“Passing through Ibadan, you will see a lot of waste all over the place. It is a problem we have been dealing with. It has taken me six years and it has still not been solved, but I promise you that the problem will be solved and solved for good,” Makinde said.
The event was attended by dignitaries, including former Ondo State Governor, Chief Segun Mimiko; Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun; and Oba Abiodun Kola-Daisi, the Osi Olubadan of Ibadanland.
The Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Ibadan, Most Rev. Joseph Akinfenwa, praised Makinde’s leadership and urged the newlywed couple to build a godly home through love and forgiveness.
