Governor Sanwo-Olu commissions 233 low-cost housing units in Eti-Osa LGA

By Adeola Ogunrinde –

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Friday inaugurated a 233-unit modern housing scheme in the Abraham Adesanya area of Eti-Osa Local Government Area

The project, delivered through a Public–Private Partnership (PPP) with Urban Shelter Limited, comprises blocks of flats and terraces aimed at providing affordable housing for low-income families.

Governor Sanwo-Olu stated that his administration’s housing policy leverages both public and private investment to deliver result-oriented programmes that address the state’s housing deficit.

“The demand for housing in Lagos continues to grow far faster than the supply. Last month, we delivered 420 units of apartments at Ajara in Badagry, and we have generated about 11,000 home units across the State in the last six years,” he said.

He noted that the state encourages private-sector participation by providing land as equity, while partners supply financing and technical expertise. All joint venture projects are closely monitored to ensure high standards.

Sanwo-Olu also highlighted reforms, including a 40 per cent rebate on permits, tax incentives, and regulatory support, to maintain affordability and boost investor confidence in low-cost housing delivery.

Commissioner for Housing, Hon. Moruf Akinderu-Fatai, said the 2019 partnership with Urban Shelter Limited aimed to maximise land and infrastructure use in Abraham Adesanya Housing Estate. He praised the developer for professionalism and adherence to standards.

The governor warned that contractors defaulting on delivery timelines risk losing their partnerships with the state government, emphasising the administration’s commitment to timely and quality housing delivery.
