Governor Sanwo-Olu commissions landmark projects in Agboyi-Ketu, Bariga LCDAs

…reaffirms LG autonomy
By Adeola Ogunrinde –
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening grassroots governance as he commissioned major infrastructure and social projects in Agboyi-Ketu and Bariga Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs).
Speaking at the twin commissioning ceremonies on Friday, Sanwo-Olu praised the performance of the outgoing council chairmen, describing their achievements as dividends of true local government autonomy. “These achievements we are witnessing today across our LCDAs are the dividends of true autonomy—a principle we have fully embraced in Lagos under the vision of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” the governor said.
In Agboyi-Ketu LCDA, the governor inaugurated several development projects executed under the leadership of outgoing Chairman Mayor Dele Oshinowo. He urged the incoming chairman, Mrs. Adetola Abubakar, to build on her predecessor’s legacy and called on residents to offer her the same support that enabled the outgoing administration’s success.

Over in Bariga LCDA, Sanwo-Olu commissioned a wide array of facilities, including two newly built primary schools, 14 completed road networks out of 21 planned, four primary health centres (one with a digital clinic), a fully equipped fire station, and a legislative building for council lawmakers.
The governor commended Hon. Kolade Alabi, Bariga’s outgoing chairman, for his contributions, noting that his role as former National President of ALGON enhanced his impact both locally and nationally. He encouraged the incoming administration to complete the remaining seven roads and sustain the development momentum.
As part of the day’s event, Hon. Alabi renamed Community Road as Babajide Sanwo-Olu Road in honour of the governor’s support for grassroots development. The gesture was met with applause from residents and party members present.
Governor Sanwo-Olu emphasized that the projects reflect what is possible when local governments are empowered and held accountable. He noted that his administration would continue to back initiatives that promote local progress and improve quality of life across communities.
The ceremonies were attended by top government officials, including members of the Lagos State Executive Council, APC State Chairman Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, members of the Governance Advisory Council, Lagos Assembly lawmakers, and APC supporters.
